Starting this season, the club will recognise a bowler of the season and the way they will do this is to calculate an aggregate of each players performances in club competitions over the season. David and Julie Bignell asked the Committee if the family could mark the decades of Mike and the late Joy Franklin’s dedication to bowls with a competition.
Mike (now approaching 94 years old) and the late Joyce Franklin were keen bowlers since the eighties, partaking in all aspects of both management and the sport itself. The ‘Franklin Challenge Shield’ will be awarded for consistent performance, participation and ability throughout the season. It is primarily designed to get the best out of everyone all the time and will serve as a permanent reminder of Joy and Mike’s commitment to the club.
